Philco Transitone Clock & A.M. Radio 1950’s

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

I found this gem at a garage sale. I was new to tube radios at the time and although it worked, I learned that some of the guts (capacitors) needed to be replaced for safe operating. Thanks to a friend he fixed and cleaned it up. Other than a missing knob next to the clock it works great and sounds fantastic. My favorite thing to listen to on it is The Sounds of Sinatra.

This is a working vintage portable phonograph from (I think) the 1950’s. I love the checkered design on the front and the way it sounds.

The tonearm does have a noticeable rattle when a record is playing but it’s not too bad! I have some 45s but I need the spindle adapter inserts to listen to them on this player.
